Dodgers Shockingly Dubbed ‘Top Trade Fit’ For $56 Million Cy Young Winner

Sandy Alcántara is likely going to be the top trade chip on the market this season, and the Miami Marlins can use that to their advantage. If Miami begins to dangle him, it could ignite quite the bidding war for the star righty.

Alcántara has three years of affordable club control left on his contract. Alongside the team control, the former Cy Young winner has looked to be back to his old self after undergoing Tommy John surgery and missing all of last season.

Caleb Moody of Just Baseball recently tabbed the Los Angeles Dodgers as one of the best trade fits for Alcántara this season. The Dodgers would be one of the more shocking landing spots for the ace right-hander.

"Despite having as stacked a rotation as anybody in the league, the Dodgers are coming off a year in which they faced an immense amount of injury to their starting staff, so having as many high-level arms in the mix could be key in their attempt to go back-to-back," Moody wrote. "And considering Alcantara will be pitching in his first season coming off Tommy John, the protection of a deeper rotation than a traditional five-man staff might be in both his and the Dodgers' best interest."

The Dodgers would be one of the most shocking landing spots for Alcántara. They have starting pitchers like Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, and Dustin May on the active roster. They also have Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, and Shohei Ohtani set to return from injuries this season.

Adding another pitcher would benefit the team, but it's not exactly a need for Los Angeles.

At the end of the day, it's the Dodgers. They're in the business of adding the best talent, and this kind of trade would do just that. It seems unlikely, but I wouldn't count the Dodgers out of the Alcántara sweepstakes.
