Dodgers’ Tanner Scott Reveals MRI Results on Elbow Injury

Tanner Scott reportedly confirmed his MRI results found no ligament damage to his left elbow, per the Los Angeles Times’ Jack Harris.

Tanner Scott shares expectations after MRI results

The southpaw closer is just dealing with elbow inflammation, and he expects to be back in the bullpen sometime this season. There is still no exact timeline for when Scott will be healthy enough to pitch again.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Scott on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday after he exited Monday’s game early with elbow pain. Scott hit a batter, walked two and allowed one run in less than an inning in the first game of the home series against the Minnesota Twins

Scott, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Dodgers in January, has struggled in his first season with Los Angeles.

He has posted a 4.14 ERA in 47 appearances, which is his highest mark since 2022. In his last seven games, Scott posted an 8.10 ERA and allowed six runs in 6.2 innings.

Scott earned the first All-Star selection of his career last season with the Miami Marlins and was the National League Reliever of the Month last July. But a year later, he did not make the All-Star team and has landed on the IL for the first time since September 2021.

Despite having most of the same relievers, the Dodgers’ bullpen has not been as dominant this season as they were during their World Series run in 2024. They have the seventh-highest ERA (4.43) in all of MLB.

The Dodgers have been swept in three of their last five series, once by the Houston Astros and twice by the Milwaukee Brewers. Against the Astros, the Dodgers were dealt a brutal 18-1 defeat.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has blamed pitching struggles as the main reason behind their recent losses. He said LA pitchers need to start limiting walks and throwing more strikes.

Scott’s injury is another blow to the Dodgers’ pitching staff this season. But perhaps the time off will give the left-hander a chance to reset and come back stronger for the second half of the season.
