Next up we grade Dylan Strome.
Next up on our Washington Capitals end of season player report cards, we grade the performance of Dylan Strome. He's a center who seems to outdo himself every year and this season was no different.
Stromer finished with a career high 29 goals and 53 assists for 82 points, easily his best season since the Caps acquired him during the 2022 free agency. He had a plus/minus of +2 while averaging 17:23 minutes of ice time. He also added three game winning goals.
In the playoffs, Strome did everything he could. He finished with two goals and nine assists for 11 points.
In the regular season at five on five, Strome's advanced stats included a corsi for percentage of 48.85 percent, a 47.09 percent expected goals for percentage and a 47.89 percent high danger chances for percentage per Natural Stat Trick.
In the playoffs Strome had a 45.25 percent corsi for percentage, a 48.34 percent expected goals for percentage, and a 57.14 percent high danger chances for percentage.
Strome was stellar in the Caps first round series win over the Montreal Canadiens as he racked up a team high nine points in those five games with two goals and seven assists.
Spencer Carbery was quick to praise Strome after the first round win saying he deserves to be recognized just as much as guys like Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson and Logan Thompson.
"He should get that recognition because of what he's done offensively in all the different areas, playing on our top line, scoring big goals, creating big goals using his hockey sense, poise, patience, entry ability. One of the best parts and attributes to Strome is his reliability. It was a big reason why the Caps wanted to give him a chance when his former employer the Chicago Blackhawks didn't.
Strome can be counted on to center the top six. He brings speed and consistency to the lineup. He was easily one of their best offseason pickups in a long time.
Grade A+: Dylan Strome had another solid season and it seems like he outdoes himself every year. Next season will be a big one for the center.
