The Philadelphia Eagles are shopping smart in NFL free agency.
According to ESPN's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are signing former Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns tight end Harrison Bryant on a one-year deal.
"Source: Former #Raiders and #Browns TE Harrison Bryant is signing with the #Eagles on a 1-year deal worth up to $2M, source says," Rapoport wrote on X.
Bryant, who was a fourth-round pick by the Browns in 2020, spent his first four seasons in Cleveland before joining the Raiders last fall.
He has appeared in 78 NFL games with 33 starts, reeling in 98 receptions for 877 and 10 touchdowns. While his numbers on paper are concerning, it's worth noting that he doubles down as a blocker, and last year, the Browns used him in short-yardage situations that were very successful.
It's unclear what the Eagles' plans for him are right now, but he joins a tight end group that features Dallas Geodert, Grant Calcaterra, and E.J. Jenkins. Cameron Latu and Nick Muse are also listed as tight end backups.
Before entering the draft, Bryant played four years at Florida Atlantic (2016-2019), hauling in 148 total receptions for 2,137 yards and 16 touchdowns. Those numbers were good enough to earn him unanimous All-American status. The Macon, Ga. native also won the 2020 John Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's most outstanding tight end.
Bryant is just one of four bargain depth additions that the Eagles have found in free agency. They have also signed running back A.J. Dillon, pass rusher Josh Uche and cornerback Adoree' Jackson.
Uche comes after the Eagles let Josh Sweat walk in free agency, while Jackson will help with the loss of Darius Slay.
