Before the Philadelphia Eagles blew out the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, there was concern that the team would not just be saying goodbye to one of their longest-tenured stars, but two.
Defensive end Brandon Graham has spoken out about his pending retirement after a franchise-leading 15 seasons with the organization. Despite returning in time for the Super Bowl after a torn triceps, no one is sure whether Graham is going to call it a career this offseason or not.
Meanwhile, All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson spoke before the Super Bowl about how he would like to play for another season whether the team won or loss.
Following the win, though, Johnson appears ready to continue to play past 2025. Taking to Twitter after the team's championship parade back in the city, Johnson made it clear that there has been no mindset of retirement at this point.
"Nothing but love the past 12 years & I'm looking forward to many more years to come," Johnson said. "Love y'all Philly!"
Johnson is now a two-time Super Bowl champion while reaching the Pro Bowl six times and being a first-time All-Pro twice. Johnson has also been a second-team All-Pro three times throughout his career as well.
Johnson signed a restructured deal in 2023, making him one of the highest paid at the right tackle position, totaling nearly $81 million, with $30 million guaranteed and an $18.835 million signing bonus.
Before the Super Bowl, Johnson also spoke to the team with the promise that the organization was better prepared for the rematch than KC, and that they would end up winning regardless.
"They're not just going to let us just tee off on them, because they will get (expletive) up," Johnson said. "And they're gonna get (expletive) up tomorrow."
Rumors may have followed Johnson into the big game about potentially retiring after a victory.
The veteran isn't ready to call it a career just yet ...or anytime soon at this point.
