Eagles analyst provides solid reason to why fans do not need to worry about A.J. Brown trade rumors

Philadelphia Eagles fans are in a frenzy over a report about general manager Howie Roseman taking a trade call from the New England Patriots inquiring about wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Eagles analyst provides solid reason to why fans do not need to worry about A.J. Brown trade rumors

This all stemmed from a report from NBC Sports' Matthew Berry, who heard about the phone call at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week.

“I’ve heard the Patriots WILL do whatever they can to get a real ‘WR1’ for Drake Maye and the new coaching staff,” Berry wrote Tuesday. “I heard they are knocking on all doors, seeing what they can possibly trade for, and one person told me they heard the Patriots called Philly asking if A.J. Brown was available.

“Shrug emoji on if that’s true, or what Philly’s answer was, but this much seems certain: New England will aggressively try to upgrade its wide receiver room this offseason.”

The good news is that Eagles fans absolutely do not have to worry about losing their No. 1 receiver to New England.

There are many reasons why that won't happen, but CBS Sports' Eagles analyst Jeff Kerr makes the most valid point.

"Nick Sirianni wore A.J. Brown's high school jersey at the Super Bowl LIX MVP press conference," Kerr wrote on X after the rumor sparked conversation. "This is as far as I'm going with this."

Brown, who signed a three-year, $96 million deal last April with the Eagles, is a main reason why they took home a Super Bowl Lomardi trophy.

Even after missing four games due to injuries, Brown finished the 2024 regular season as the Eagles' top receiver, hauling in 67 catches for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024.

Sure, the trade rumors may have been believable in 2023 when the Eagles blew up their 10-straight wins. But a lot has changed since then.

Brown even admitted that he and Jalen Hurts do indeed bump heads, but only because they both want to win.

The bottom line is that Brown isn't leaving a 2025 Super Bowl-caliber team to go play in New England.
