Eagles' biggest roster strength is exactly what fans think it would be

Let's face it, every Philadelphia Eagles fan can just imagine what the media would say if the question were posed as to what is the strength of the roster. It's the one part of the offense that everyone seems to want to criticize Jalen Hurts about.

Eagles' biggest roster strength is exactly what fans think it would be

Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine shared each NFL team's biggest strengths and weaknesses to the rosters entering the 2025 season. It was a simple choice for the Eagles, as it is all about Saquon Barkley, the Eagles' offensive line, and the perfect running game they have.

"The NFL is often referred to as a passing league, but the Eagles proved last season that a dominant running game can go a long way. It isn't like Jalen Hurts and Co. can't throw the ball, but the offense worked because they had a dominant offensive line blocking for one of the most dynamic backs in the league.

Saquon Barkley turned out to be just what the Eagles offense needed. Hurts and Barkley anchored a rushing attack that averaged the most carries per game while simultaneously placing fourth in yards per carry.

The defending champs have a lot of strengths, but their ability to demoralize a defense on the ground is the best."

Nothing appears to be able to slow down the Eagles' rushing attack

This has honestly been a common occurrence for the Eagles over the past decade-plus as the team has been so dominant on the ground. A significant reason for this is the coaching the offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, has done with the line to help create holes for the running game.

Philadelphia has some of the best offensive linemen in the league, including Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, and Landon Dickerson. The only question mark for 2025 is Tyler Steen at right guard, but he has been praised throughout training camp, so there aren't many concerns with him.

There's, of course, Barkley, who had a historic season for the Eagles in his first year on the squad. He rushed for 2,005 yards in the regular season (just the ninth running back to do that and broke a franchise record). If fans include his postseason stats, his 2,504 rushing yards were an NFL record. Add in a Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and Offensive Player of the Year award to it, and you've got the best back in the game right now.

Last year, the Eagles averaged 179.3 yards per game on the ground, the second most in the NFL behind the Baltimore Ravens. Not only is Barkley a big part of that, but Hurts was as well, thanks to his athleticism and the Tush Push, which helped pad those stats. Unfortunately, it's the one part of Hurts' game that has affected the way people look at him overall as a quarterback.

Nothing should change for this offense in 2025, as the running game will continue to be the team's strength, provided Barkley, Hurts, and the offensive line remain.
