The NFL is a young man's game, but that doesn't mean a wily veteran like Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay can't do more than hold his own. After a "game-sealing" deflection, Slay told NFL insider Mike Garafolo the game should've ended earlier, but his old legs gave out.
"I had to make sure I stayed on my man. (Panthers WR Adam) Thielen is a 20-year vet, I know one thing about him man, he's going to extend the plays. ... 'Cause I was gassed. ... I should've ended it earlier but these 33-year-old legs gave out when I tried to jump."

But it was a great effort by me. I made sure I stayed in. That’s why I’ve got the ‘C’ on my chest.” pic.twitter.com/6Wf0TqXAem

In a tighter-than-expected matchup, the Eagles held on for a 22-16 win, improving their record to 11-2.
After two promising wins against the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, the Panthers have dropped three straight, against Kansas City, Tampa Bay and now Philadelphia, by fewer than six points in each game.
The Eagles delivered two huge stops against the Panthers on Carolina's last two drives, both resulting in a turnover on downs. With less than a minute to play, it appeared Bryce Young had completed a deep game-winning touchdown pass to rookie WR Xavier Legette. Unfortunately, it was ruled that it was not a catch, and the game ended shortly thereafter.
Earlier this week, a bettor in Kentucky placed a $3.1 million bet on the Eagles to win, straight up, against the Panthers.
