Eagles’ CJ Gardner-Johnson Clarifies Controversial Comments, Looks Forward to New Chapter with Texans:
The offseason saw notable changes for CJ Gardner-Johnson as the Philadelphia Eagles traded the standout safety to the Houston Texans, setting the stage for a series of dramatic remarks from the player. Gardner-Johnson, who has been outspoken about his feelings regarding the trade, recently took the opportunity to reflect on his comments during an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast” hosted by Ryan Clark.
After the trade, Gardner-Johnson stirred the pot with statements suggesting the Eagles may struggle to secure a Super Bowl title without him. However, he made it clear during the podcast that he regretted his choice of words.
“It’s a disrespect to Jalen Carter, A.J. Brown—I can name all those guys on that team—Lane Johnson,” Gardner-Johnson expressed. He emphasized his respect for his former teammates, particularly Johnson, who has been a mentor to him. “Lane is my big vet and would tell me, ‘Hey, (C.J.), I got your back, but when you do too much, I don’t got your back. And that’s one of those moments that’s too much.'”
