Jahan Dotson was once considered a top wide receiver prospect for the 2022 Draft. He had plenty of upside out of Penn State that the Washington Commanders made him their first-round pick.
Since then, though, the road through the NFL has been a rocky one for Dotson.
After scoring 11 touchdowns in his first two seasons combined, a new coaching staff in Washington pushed Dotson out the door. For a third-round pick, the Philadelphia Eagles acquired him to be the team's third receiving option on the outside with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
With Thursday night's contest against the Commanders upcoming, Dotson knows he has a chance to prove his old team wrong for trading him.
"People tend to forget that I was a first-round pick. I can make plays," Dotson said … surely with revenge on his mind. "Just because I'm the third receiver in this offense, I don't get a lot of opportunities, so I got to make the most of them when they come. But I have the ultimate confidence in myself if the ball's in there that I'm going to come down with it, I'm going to make a play."
There's obviously some added juice to the Thursday contest with the winner taking over first place in the NFC East going into the middle of November.
Even more excitement should be on the shoulders of Dotson as he tries to prove the Commanders wrong on Thursday. He'll look to help Philadelphia get an even bigger lead in the division in 24 hours.
