And, just like that, the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is in the books, and during its process, we turned the calendar's page from February to March. We had a ball last month, didn't we? Another Senior Bowl allowed us access to some promising young prospects. The Philadelphia Eagles took care of business on Super Bowl Sunday.
All the stars aligned for that one. Eric Allen received his Pro Football Hall of Fame knock. The Birds won their second Lombardi Trophy two days later on Saquon Barkley and Cooper DeJean's birthday.
There were still 19 days left on the calendar at that point. Why not host a victory parade on Valentine's Day? That was a day to remember. Heck, the police were out there performing the 'Brotherly Shove'.
With all of that in our rearview mirror, we shift our attention to another NFL Draft. You know what that means: Pro Days, Top 30 visits, and mock drafts are on the menu.
We haven't gotten our feet wet, so we decided to knock a little rust off. We present for your viewing pleasure, discussion, and complaint our first simulation.
Round 1, Pick 32 - Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College Eagles
While we'd love to see Myles Garrett join this team, he'd be an expensive add for a Birds team already snuggled closely toward the salary cap's border. If our math is correct, Philly, if nothing changes, will enter free agency with about $20 million or so to spend and Garrett represents a $19.7 million cap hit next season.
With that being said, we'll go the route of looking to the April's draft. Our first pick is an edge rusher, Donovan Ezeiruaku out of Boston College.
Bryce Huff hasn't worked out so far. Brandon Graham is staring at retirement, and we expect Josh Sweat to leave and cash in during free agency.
Round 2, Pick 64 - Omarr Norman-Lott, Defensive Tackle, Tennessee Volunteers
Sweaty isn't the only Bird from last year's roster looking to hit the jackpot. Milton Williams figures to earn himself a massive payday.
Philly will have to pay Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter soon. They've found a nice rotational piece in Moro Ojomo. We don't expect Howie Roseman will break the bank for the third defensive tackle on Philly's depth chart.
We'd be satisfied if they spent a second-round draft choice on Omarr Norman-Lott. He's a disrupter along the defensive line's interior who produced four sacks for the Volunteers in 2024. He stands at six-foot-three and tips the scales at 315 pounds.
Round 3, Pick 96 - Charles Grant, Offensive Tackle, William & Mary Tribe
Let's just assume that Philly's decision to allow Sweat and Williams to walk means they have more coins to retain Mekhi Becton on a team-friendly deal. The Birds have promising young reserve guards in Tyler Steen and Trevor Keegan.
Charles Grant is the classic 'big fish in a small pond' prospect. He'd give Philly another big body and depth at tackle as well as a possible eventual successor for future Pro Football Hall of Famer Lane Johnson.
Round 4, Pick 129 - Zy Alexander, Cornerback, LSU Tigers
Darius Slay's deal could be restructured to allow him to end his career as an Eagle. He, however, isn't the only cornerback that Philly might lose.
Isaiah Rodgers and Avonte Maddox are both impending free agents. We wouldn't be shocked if both left. That would leave The Eagles with three holes they'd have to fill in the secondary from last season's roster.
Zy Alexander is as good a potential mid-rounder as anyone. He played in many big games with the LSU Tigers. He's a big outside corner who stands at six-foot-two. He tips the scales at 188 pounds. He intercepted two passes during his final year with the Bayou Bengals.
Round 5, Pick 162 - Trevor Etienne, Running Back, Georgia Bulldogs
Why the heck not? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Besides, we've watched so much of the Georgia Bulldogs these past few seasons (for obvious reasons).
Kenny Gainwell is an impending free agent. Philly has that Saquon Barkley fellow on the roster and they spent draft capital on Will Shipley in 2024.
There's a lot to like about Trevor Etienne, particularly his five-yards-per-carry average and his nine TDs on the season.
Round 5, Pick 166 - Nick Nash, Wide Receiver, San Jose State Spartans
We again use our 'big fish in a small pond' theory on Nick Nash. He was named Second-Team All-Mountain West in 2023 before being named a first-team nod this season.
He played a little QB but will play wide receiver at the professional level. This after he snagged 104 receptions for 1,382 yards and reached the end zone 16 times en route to being named a Unanimous All-American in his final NCAA season.
Round 5, Pick 169 - Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse Orange
We end this one by adding a prospect to Scot Loeffler's new QB room. Something tells us Kenny Pickett will land elsewhere.
Kyle McCord threw for 4,779 yards and 34 TDs in 13 games last season and could learn a ton from Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee.
