Eagles HC Nick Sirianni sends message to players following OTAs, minicamp

Voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp for the Philadelphia Eagles have come and gone, which means they now get a much-needed break until training camp kicks off on July 23.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni sends message to players following OTAs, minicamp

But the next five weeks won't be all fun and games for the Birds after head coach Nick Sirianni gave his players some homework: to come back in the best shape of their life.

"I won’t get into all the messaging we had, but the main message, one of the main messages was come back in the best shape of your life," Sirianni said. "One of our core values is detail, football IQ and fundamentals, and to play with great detail, you have to be in great shape."

According to photos that went viral in the spring, it seems some players, like quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Kenneth Gainwell, and wide receiver A.J. Brown, are already ahead of the game and all look jacked.

Defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis have also slimmed down.

"Our guys have done a great job of being in the weight room, of running extra after practice, running during practice, different things, our strength staff and training staff has done a great job of helping these guys get in great shape and now it’s maintaining that so when they come in, it’s not getting in shape, we hit the ground running and we go," Siriannia said. "There will be natural soreness and things like that as you practice, but it’s being in great physical shape so we can play with great detail."

After dropping a 10-1 season last fall, it was obvious that the Eagles would go into this offseason with a chip on their shoulder ready to prove the doubters wrong.

To get back on track, the Eagles added more workouts and practices to their spring program and also held a first-ever mandatory minicamp under Sirianni.

Hopefully, all of that extra hard work will pay off for the Birds in 2024.
