Eagles Killer Dak Prescott Makes Stunning Cowboys Choice

Dak Prescott won't return for the remainder of the 2024 season and it opens the door for Philadelphia to finally get some ground on their rival.

Since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 draft, Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott has been a thorn in the side of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sure, the Birds have reached the Super Bowl twice throughout Prescott's tenure, but the Cowboys' starting quarterback is 9-4 against the Eagles over the last nine seasons.

Heading into a Sunday evening showdown between Dallas and Philadelphia, Prescott's absence is arguably the biggest story. It's not just about Prescott's hamstring injury, but for how long the All-Pro will be out.

And in the latest news dump, the quarterback will be out a lot longer than originally feared.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Prescott has made a stunning choice and will "undergo season-ending surgery on his partially torn hamstring, pending the opinion of one final specialist," Saturday afternoon.

Prescott suffered his hamstring injury during Dallas' 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Cowboy leadership believed there was a chance the Pro Bowl signal-caller could be placed on IR and miss the next four weeks.

Now, it's even longer.

As the Eagles prepare for their showdown on the road in Dallas - a place they haven't won since the 2017 season - they will face off against Cooper Rush twice for the remainder of the season.

Rush is currently 5-1 as a starting quarterback over the last few seasons. The one loss? To the Eagles in 2022.

While Rush was able to save the Cowboys' season in 2022, Prescott's absence is something that could sink the current 3-5 'Boys for good this season. And a team like the Eagles just seems to be waiting in the wings at this point.
