Eagles legend Jason Kelce gets brutally honest in his take on Tyler Steen

Once upon a time, there was that "When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen" phrase. If there was an NFL comp, it would probably involve Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce.

Eagles legend Jason Kelce gets brutally honest in his take on Tyler Steen

That would especially be true if we polled Birds fans and the citizens of the City of Brotherly Love. The G.O.A.T. is just one of those guys who freeze you in your tracks whenever he says anything.

It's hard to remember when that started, but the point was certainly driven home during the Super Bowl 52 parade. Jason, in essence, threw on a Mummer's garb, and told everyone outside of the Eagles family that they can pucker up.... And, you know the rest...

It was one of the greatest days of our lives as lovers of this storied football team. So, yeah... That's the day we remember when Jason went from great football player to forever being entrenched in Birds lore as one of the most beloved figures in this organization's history.

Since then, he's continued talking his way into a small fortune. Recently, he made an appearance on 94 WIP-FM. One of the topics of conersation was one of the young Birds, and we hope he was listening like the rest of us.

Jason Kelce gets brutally honest about Tyler Steen.

So, with Mekhi Becton's exit, Tyler Steen is back in the spotlight. If you remember, at this same juncture of the 2024 offseason, we thought Steen would start and Becton's ceiling might be as a backup swing tackle.

Let's just say things changed. Becton worked his way into a massive payday, but with another organization. Steen is looking to finally claim the starting right guard position.

Kelce was asked his theories about all things eagles during his recent visit with WIP's Morning Show, and as you'd expect, he wasn't shy in his critique of the young Bird as he enters year three with the organization.

Frankly, we see nothing wrong with that, and we wouldn't imagine Steen having any issue on Kelce's take either. Think of it as a pep talk a big brother would offer to a younger sibling.

Make no mistake. While it would seem Steen is the top guy on the depth chart at right guard now, Philly's coaches aren't going to hand anything to one of the members of Philly's Tide.

Fred Johnson left during the latter stages of the first wave of free agency, but several other guys on the roster figure to push Tyler for a starting role. Keep in mind the fact that Brett Toth and Darian Kinnard can both play guard and offensive tackle.

Kendall Lamm has been added. Second-year offensive guard Trevor Keegan is also on the roster. Kenyon Green, a former first-round pick of the Texans, was acquired by trade.

Long story short, if Steen wins the starting job, he will have earned it. The Eagles O-line is seemingly a lot deeper than it was just two or three weeks ago.
