If there is one thing the Philadelphia Eagles are good at, it's making roster moves after the NFL Draft concludes and before the season begins.
Cornerback James Bradberry is a perfect example. General manager Howie Roseman signed Bradberry in May of 2022 and he became an instant contributor, proving that Roseman is unafraid to keep working despite training camp being a few months away.
Is the magic-working executive on the cusp of another big move?
A segment was discussed on NFL Network on Monday night as the panel shared their favorite landing spots for current free agents. Jeffri Chadiha liked Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and safety Justin Simmons reuniting in Philadelphia after the two crossed paths with the Denver Broncos.

"I think this guy walks straight into that system, knows what he’s doing. They lost C.J. Gardner-Johnson last year, who was a big playmaker for them in the secondary. Justin Simmons is the fourth active leader in interceptions right now, with players still playing with 32. I think he gives that secondary a boost with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Reed Blankenship. This makes all the sense in the world.”
Brian Baldinger added after Chadiha's comment that the landing spots make sense for one reason.
“He wants to come to Philadelphia. He wants to be there.”
Simmons has been to the Pro Bowl twice in his nine-year career and is a four-time second-team All-Pro. He spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons and tallied his lowest stat totals since his rookie season in 2016.
In 134 career games, Simmons has racked up 71 pass deflections, 32 interceptions, 21 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, 4.5 sacks, and three fumble recoveries.
The Eagles' current options at safety are among the most significant question marks before training camp. Reed Blankenship is the only solid starter. Sydney Brown, Tristin McCollum, and second-round pick Andrew Mukuba will compete for the other starting safety position.
If Philadelphia decides to bring in Simmons, that would be an instant upgrade as he would slot right into the starting lineup. It would be a little off the beaten path, though, as Roseman and the Eagles have been all about playing their younger players to see if they are good fits for the future.
When it comes down to Roseman, fans never know what they are going to get, so signing Simmons is not out of the realm of possibility.
