One of the biggest reasons the Philadelphia Eagles found so much success in 2024 was the amazing defense, which ended the year ranked second in points per game allowed (17.8) and first in total yards per game allowed (278.4).
However, they saw several major pieces depart in free agency, with one of the biggest being EDGE Josh Sweat, who signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
With Sweat gone, it creates a hole in the pass rush, and that's why, in an article for Pro Football & Sports Network, Sterling Xie urges the Eagles to sign 36-year-old free-agent Von Miller.
"If the Eagles really want to super-charge their pass rush.... Miller is still a useful passing-down weapon, as he had six sacks and a 16.1% pressure rate for the Bills last season," Xie wrote. "That pressure rate ranked 11th out of 212 players to rush the passer 150+ times. For a team that should be playing from ahead most of the season, Miller would be an excellent situational weapon."
Throughout his 13 seasons in the NFL, Miller has proven to be an elite pass rusher, making eight Pro Bowl appearances and three First-Team All-Pro selections and making $191 million in career earnings
Last year for the Bills, he proved to still be a viable option, appearing in 13 games, accumulating 17 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, eight quarterback hits, eight hurries and 16 pressures.
Miller's numbers aren't too far off compared to what Sweat produced in 16 games for the Eagles, accumulating 41 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight sacks, 15 quarterback hits, two hurries and 16 pressures.
Of course, it wouldn't be a perfect replacement, but it could be a good addition for the Eagles, who have also signed OLBs Azeez Ojulari (one-year, $3 million) and Joshua Uche (one-year, $1.92 million).
