Eagles' receiving corps just got proof of how dangerous they will be in 2025

Overshadowed by the elite rushing attack, people forget how elite the Philadelphia Eagles' pass catchers are.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is surrounded by an impressive array of talent, featuring A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley, who make up the skill players on offense. Pro Football Focus believes these guys are among the best in the NFL.

PFF writer Trevor Sikkema ranked the best receiving groups in the NFL, with the Eagles taking the top spot. It helps to have two of the top 20 receivers in the NFL and top 10 tight end and running back on the roster.

"The Eagles earned a team 79.1 PFF receiving grade last season and boast the No. 1 (A.J. Brown) and No. 17 (DeVonta Smith) receivers in PFF's top 32 wide receiver rankings, as well as theNo. 2 running back (Saquon Barkley) and No. 8 tight end (Dallas Goedert). Throw in Jahan Dotson as an ideal No. 3 receiver, and you’ve got a group that has a strong case for being the best in the league."

Eagles are as stacked of a group offensively as they can get

While the receivers always get the attention in the passing game, this season might feature more of the running backs. Barkley had some success on screen passes, but Will Shipley could be showcased more in the passing game.

PFF did not mention Grant Calcaterra, but his contributions in the passing game should increase after taking over for Goedert when he was hurt. Goedert will still be the third option in the passing game as long as he can stay healthy.

The biggest question for the Eagles is the third receiver, with Dotson, who has had glimpses of great catches but never at a consistent level. Brown and Smith carry the load at receiver and need more production from Dotson or one of the other receivers.

It's incredible to see the level of talent all around Hurts in the passing game. Philadelphia aims to increase its passing attempts in 2025 to alleviate the workload on Barkley, who handled the ball over 300 times during the season.

Experience in the past with throwing it too much has not proven beneficial for the Eagles' offense. A more mature offense and increased stability in the offensive system should help make the passing game run smoother in 2025.
