Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean made his first start on Saturday in the team's 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns.

And he did not disappoint.

With help from defensive tackle Moro Ojomo, DeJean logged his first career sack on Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson for a 15-yard loss.

The Eagles' 2024 No. 22 overall pick also played well in coverage and forced Browns star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy out of bounds to keep him from catching a touchdown pass.

DeJean finished the day credited with six tackles (three solo), a QB hit, and half a sack.

There were reports all week leading up to the matchup that DeJean would replace Avonte Maddox at nickel, though head coach Nick Sirianni would not confirm.

After moving DeJean to nickel corner, the Eagles slid Maddox in at safety. Maddox logged one tackle.

In addition to playing in the slot, DeJean continued to do well on punt returns.

The Eagles took their time getting DeJean more looks on defense after the rookie missed a good chunk of the offseason with a hamstring injury. But they may have waited too long.

At least DeJean will now have the rest of the season to make up for that lost time.
