Eagles showing confidence boost in Sydney Brown, Kelee Ringo at start of training camp

Heading into Philadelphia Eagles NFL training camp, one of the many questions was how they would move on from starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and starting cornerback Darius Slay.

Eagles showing confidence boost in Sydney Brown, Kelee Ringo at start of training camp

And following Day 1 of training camp practice, we already have some answers.

According to 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks, it looks like the Eagles have a ton of confidence in Sydney Brown and Kelee Ringo after all.

Shorr-Parks reported from the NovaCare Complex that while the Eagles ran a nickel package, they had Brown at safety and Ringo as the starting cornerback.

This could be huge considering Brown spent most of the 2024 season on the sidelines, still recovering from an ACL injury. And even when he did return and saw more playing time toward the end of the season, he didn't look like his normal self.

While it’s still early in camp, it’s worth noting as the Eagles prepare for a secondary without CJGJ and work toward deciding who will replace him.

Shorr later noted that rookie safety Andrew Mukuba also saw first-team reps, making it clear he’s the top contender for the role this offseason

Shorr did later mention that rookie safety Andrew Mukuba saw action with the first-team, making it clear he’s the top contender for the role this offseason.

As for Ringo, he took all first-team reps at outside cornerback opposite Quinyon Mitchell.

This practice update comes as no surprise since he has been turning heads all spring. It's only exciting to see him finally stepping into a starting role since he's spent the last two seasons taking limited reps while learning from the best.
