Eagles sign perfect high-upside replacement for Josh Sweat

The Philadelphia Eagles have added a new pass-rusher to their roster, inking Joshua Uche to a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter. With the Eagles losing both Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat this offseason, it was important for the team to add some help in the pass-rushing department. Hopefully Uche can be a nice boost to the team.

Uche, a second-round pick by the Patriots in 2020, spent four full seasons in New England before the Patriots traded him to the Chiefs during the 2024 season. Uche was under utilized in Kansas City, appearing in just six regular season games and clearly not being the fit they thought he'd be for their pass rush.

Uche's best season was in 2022 when he tallied 11.5 sacks with the Patriots. While he hasn't had that type of production since, who better to get that kind of performance out of him than Vic Fangio?

This isn't going to be a signing that excites Eagles fans too much but Uche has proven to be a solid pass-rusher in the past and, as mentioned before, Fangio should be able to get him back to that point. If it doesn't work out, it's only a one-year deal so it'll be easy to move on from.

The fact of the matter is that the Eagles need to add defensive players after losing two big names in free agency and Uche fits that mold. Let's hope the Eagles can get him back to his 2022 form rather than the 2024 form that saw him traded and then under utilized.
