Eagles Urged to Sign Former Super Bowl Champion with 42.5 sacks, Vic Fangio Ties-yennhi

There’s an adage that a team can never have enough pass rushers, and that could hold true for the Philadelphia Eagles in the franchise’s quest for a second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons.

Eagles

Even with Brandon Graham returning for the chance to chase a second ring, Jalen Carter aiming to build on a six-sack rookie campaign, general manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles could look to bolster quality veteran depth at the position.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox put together a list of veteran players who can give contenders a lift this season and makes a compelling case for the Eagles to sign former Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.

“Ogbah remains a productive rotational sack artist,” Knox writes for Bleacher Report. “He finished last season with 5.5 sacks and 15 quarterback pressures while playing just 25 percent of the defensive snaps for the Miami Dolphins.

“Notably, Ogbah’s 2023 production came under the Eagles’ new defensive coordinator. He’s already familiar with Fangio’s scheme, meaning he could help Philadelphia in both this summer’s implementation process and during the regular season.”

Ogbeh won a Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, so his presence in a youthful defensive line room could pay dividends for the Eagles.

Through his first eight seasons, Ogbah has produced 42.5 sacks with 268 total tackles, 41 tackles for loss, eight forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 108 quarterback hits.

The Dolphins released Ogbah on February 23, but the 30-year-old may follow Fangio to Philadelphia where he could have the chance to contribute meaningful pass-rush snaps, and perhaps soften some of the blow along the Eagles’ front seven from defensive tackle Fletcher Cox’s retirement.

Nick Sirianni has a Simple Message for Eagles Rookies

Rookie minicamp represents a chance for incoming draft picks and undrafted free agents to get a first taste of life in the NFL, and into the rhythm of an NFL practice before the veterans arrive in the coming weeks for OTAs and minicamp practices.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, though, also took time out of the Eagles’ rookie camp to stress what it means to put on a midnight green jersey and helmet.

“Just get immersed into the culture,” Sirianni told reporters was his message to the young players. “We can go over our core values, what they are, what they mean, how we do it, but until we start doing, your culture is just your behaviors. Until we start doing those things, they’re just words on the wall.

“So it’s just getting immersed into the culture. And part of that is the detail, understanding what to do and how to do it and just diving into that every day. Yeah, it’s a lot. Rookie minicamp, though, it’s new words for all these guys. It’s new language, all these different things.”

Rebuilding a championship culture is a top priority — and responsibility for Sirianni this season, following a second-half collapse in 2023 and the Eagles hiring Fangio and Kellen Moore as two new coordinators for the 42-year-old head coach to lean on.

Quinyon Mitchell Leaning on Veterans

The Eagles selected former Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in the first round of this year’s draft, to rave reviews, as a likely long-term replacement for James Bradberry or Darius Slay.

But, before the 6-foot and 180-pound ballhawk can take Slay or Bradberry’s job, Mitchell plans on learning everything he can from the veteran cornerback.

“Just all those guys, just picking their brains and stuff like that,” Mitchell told reporters, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “We’ve got a veteran room, so I’m sure me and Coop [are] gonna be asking them questions and stuff like that. So I feel like it’s a great opportunity.”
