Entering his third NFL season, the former Georgia product is in the best shape of his life after switching up his diet and changing his overall lifestyle.

Sure, Davis is still a giant 350-pound defender, but he's a much slimmer and faster version.

“It looks a lot better than it did last year,” Davis said. “I feel a lot better than I did last year. We just continue on. We got a plan here and we just keep on working.”

Davis started all 17 games last year, though he played less than 50 percent of the defensive snaps.

Now he is expected to take on a much larger role under new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, so getting into shape has been his primary goal this offseason.

No Days off for Jordan Davis

And there are no days off for Davis anymore.

“Just making minor changes to the lifestyle, being more active in my lifestyle,” Davis said. “If I had a day off, making sure I do something active, whether it’s walking outside, going outside, getting into backpacking now. Just going on little hikes and stuff like that. Just trying to be more at one with nature and stuff like that. Just little stuff to get me outside. Don’t want to be sedentary, don’t want to sit inside all the time when I have free time.”

The Eagles lost defensive tackle Fletcher Cox to retirement earlier this year, which means Davis has some big shoes to fill.

But Fangio has liked what he's seen from Davis, so far.

"He’s heading into his third year. I think he’s off to a good start this offseason," Fangio said. "I don’t have anything to compare it to, not having been here his first two years. But I think he’s working good. I think he’s rounding into good shape. It’s up to us to give him the opportunity and platform to get in good shape, and then rely on him when he leaves here and that dead time between the offseason and camp. From what I’ve seen so far, very encouraging."

Davis won't be alone in having to step up this fall since second-year defensive tackle Jalen Carter is expected to see his playing time increase as well.
