Emma Stone has her own ideas on what really went down during her viral moment at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Stone and guest host Diego Luna break down the moment Austin Butler and Pedro Pascal attempted to come to their Eddington costar's rescue when a bee wouldn't leave her alone at the premiere of their new film on May 16.
Videos from the fest show Pascal trying to shoo it away first. Stone notices, and can be seen mouthing to him what looks like, "Is that a bee?"
Stone then points it out to Butler, who blows at the bee. Unfortunately, he does this back in the direction of Stone, who dramatically dips down on the carpet with a look of horror on her face as the insect comes near her again. All of this amuses Pascal, who sticks his hand in front of Stone's face.

At this point, Butler also puts his hand up to keep the bee away, and it appears to finally buzz off.
Luna suggested that Butler may have brought the bee himself, given that in video footage of the incident it seems like the Elvis star is blowing the insect directly at Stone's face.
"No! He's a sweetheart and a half," Stone said on Butler's behalf. "There's no way he wanted that bee in my face. He was trying to blow it behind me."
But when Luna suggested that Butler might have been the one to bring the bee on the red carpet, Stone countered with her own theory. "I almost guarantee you, if anyone brought the bee, it was Pedro," she quipped. "He probably brought the bee, he probably unleashed that bee."
Luna joked that Pascal has been quite the busy bee himself lately, seemingly appearing in anything and everything as he promotes various projects, including his upcoming Marvel film Fantastic Four: First Steps. "Pedro has become the new Coca Cola," he proclaimed.
Stone had no choice but to agree — albeit with her usual snarky humor. "He's everywhere. He's talented, he's gorgeous, he's nice, he's funny," Stone responded. "F--- him."
Stone, Butler, and Pedro all star in Ari Aster's new horror western, Eddington. Per an official synopsis, the film is set in peak COVID-19 times — May of 2020 — when "a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico."
The film reunites Aster and Phoenix, who previously worked together on the director's Beau Is Afraid.

Luna praised Stone, telling her that he automatically "buys the ticket" when he sees her name attached to projects. He asked the Oscar winner how she remains "consistent" when it comes to her seemingly eclectic career choices.
Stone humbly responded that she's been "really lucky" in her career before responding, "You know that feeling [where] like there's so many points in your life as an actor where you're auditioning for stuff and you take what comes to you? That that's what you do — or at least what I have done."

"And then, if you are lucky enough for whatever small period of your life to get to make choices, I just want to choose the most high-wire act possible," she added. "Like, I really really like a big swing and even if it's a swing and a miss, that's okay. I just like a big swing while I have the luck to to choose."
Considering her swings have earned her an Academy Award and numerous nominations, Stone hasn't missed yet.
