Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews is taking some heat for her commentary about the weather during Sunday's Week 9 game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
With rain in the forecast, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was excited about the slop leading up to kickoff, telling reporters midweek, "We’ll be in the elements and wearing the all-whites with the grass stains, it’s gonna be good ol' football the way it’s meant to be played."
Mother Nature followed through with a cold, windy and rain-soaked November game, one the Lions won 24-14 to improve to 7-1.
Andrews caught attention during the broadcast for her weather-related updates, at one point specifically alluding to 43-mile-per-hour wind gusts and a chance of thunder and lightning.
Fans on social media took notice, particularly Sam Kuffel, a CBS 58 meteorologist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who bluntly wrote on X, "Begging Erin Andrews to stop making up weather alerts. ... Stuff like this makes me irrationally angry."
Other spectators chimed in on the matter, too.
"Literally checked NWS to see if there were any warnings out and there were none… Erin girl what are your sources bc they’re wrong," one commenter wrote.
"Dude, I looked at weather.gov right after and there was nothing. Shame on her, man," another fan wrote.
"Currently bunkered in a room downstairs with no windows per Erin Andrews," someone jokingly added.
It's not the first time the 46-year-old media star has angered onlookers. In Nov. 2023, she and "Thursday Night Football" host Charissa Thompson stepped into a controversy after admitting to having made up halftime reports when two specific coaches wouldn't cooperate. The comments were originally made in 2022.
Following Sunday's action, Andrews also took to Instagram with her weekly game post, captioning a pair of photos at Lambeau Field with, "Rain game in @rains @nflonfox @detroitlionsnfl @jilliangregory @hair_makeupbymoni @daniela_viviana #rain."
Fox Sports has already confirmed its "America's Game of the Week" assignment for its lead crew in Week 10. Given Tom Brady spent his final three NFL seasons playing in Tampa, Brady, Andrews and company will handle the 49ers at Buccaneers matchup.
