NFL Reporter Erin Andrews faced some damaging accusations following Fox Sports' coverage of the rain-soaked Week 9 showdown between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 3.
Andrews could not help but respond to CBS weather reporter and meteorologist Sam Kuffel after the latter accused Andrews of "making up weather alerts" during the game. She reached out to Kuffel to try to show her the weather report she got from Fox security before the game. For her part, the renowned NFL sportscaster wanted to clear the air and prove that she was not, in fact, making anything up.
In a recent episode of her "Calm Down" podcast with fellow Fox Sports reporter Charissa Thompson, Andrews had a few more things to say about the game and the adverse weather conditions she had to deal with. This included a significant concern regarding a potential ear infection because of the rain.
"I'm doing that first hit and Kev comes down to me," Andrews said on the podcast. "I'm talking about how it's the Lions' first outdoor game. The rain is just coming in slanted where I have my earpiece in. I took it out once. There's water inside and I'm like, 'Am I going to have swimmer's ear?' Because I'm pushing water in my ear canal."
Fortunately, Andrews did not get an ear infection from the game. She did, however, joke about just wanting to be in the booth with co-hosts Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady as opposed to being exposed to the elements.
This is all part of the job, though. Andrews has been in the business for quite some time now, and the 46-year-old is well aware of the hazards associated with her chosen profession.
Andrews and the rest of the Fox Sports NFL crew will be in Tampa on Sunday to cover the Week 10 matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers. The weather forecast in Tampa for Sunday is "very warm and humid," so it appears that Andrews will not need to worry about the rain for this one.
