Even Without Haason Reddick, Jets Defense Primed to ‘Take Next Step’?

After a strong season in 2023 despite a plethora of injuries, the New York Jets defense is ready to have an even stronger season in 2024. With a lot of the previous team returning and staying healthy throughout the preseason, the Jets are primed to make a playoff run, something they haven't done since 2010.

New York Jets Defense Will Still Be Good Without Haason Reddick. Will That Be Good Enough?

Safety Tony Adams, who has been with the team since 2022, spoke on how the defense is looking to build off of recent seasons.

"This is our third year under the same staff, the same guys," said Adams. "You grow up and you see these players transform into these unbelievable players. ... We took some amazing steps, but now it's time to take the next step. It's time to be a dominant defense. We have been before, but we all know what's at stake. We all know what time it is."

Despite finishing with a 7-10 record in 2023, the Jets defense was first in the league in yards-allowed per-play, and third in yards-allowed per-game.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich also spoke on the expectations for the defense this upcoming season.

"[The standard] is that we find a way to win every single week," said Ulbrich. "That's what it is, and we're the reason that we win. We put that on our backs. That's bigger than stats, that's bigger than analytics, that's bigger than all that. We find a way to win every week."
