Jay Glazer from Fox Sports joined the Fantasy Football Happy Hour with Matthew Berry from NBC Sports this past week at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans and was not shy about dropping some updates on former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.
Glazer was asked about his thoughts on Wilson's potential destination for 2025 and mentioned his belief that the Pittsburgh Steelers will let Wilson test free agency, along with ruling out the possibility of a potential reunion with his former head coach in Seattle, Pete Carroll, who's now in Las Vegas.
Biggest scoop yet. Jay Glazer says Russell Wilson won't be back with Steelers. Doesn't sound bullish on Fields either. FYI-Glazer is Tomlin's best friend in football media.
Midway through the 2024 season, Wilson and the Steelers appeared to be a perfect match, as the team started 8-2 before dropping six of their final eight games and falling in the Wild Card Round to Baltimore.
Now? It seems inevitable that Wilson will be wearing different threads next fall.
While there were many different reasons why Wilson did not work out in Denver, his lack of generating points continues to play a role in his team's lack of success, primarily towards the backend of the regular season with both Denver and Pittsburgh.
There will be plenty of teams searching for a new franchise quarterback this offseason, which should help Wilson find a team.
Other notable quarterbacks set to hit free agency include Sam Darnold, Kirk Cousins (post-release), Justin Fields, Jacoby Brissett, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Mac Jones, Cooper Rush, and Joe Flacco.
There's a wide variety of quarterbacks for any team interested in adding an experienced leader.
