On Sunday, April 27, there will be walkers at the starting line of the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon at 7 a.m. in Prospect Park. Walkers are the zombies in “The Walking Dead” world.
AMC Networks will host a post-run activation with giveaways and photo opportunities (also in Prospect Park).
Lauren Cohan, the star and executive producer of the show, exclusively told The Post, “I’m really excited for fans to see what’s in store! This takeover is one of the biggest and most interactive experiences ‘The Walking Dead’ has ever done, and is the perfect way to kick off the new season.”
Starring Cohan and Morgan, “The Walking Dead: Dead City” is set in a post-apocalyptic New York City.
Cohan and Morgan reprise their roles as Maggie and Negan from the original “The Walking Dead,” which aired from 2010 to 2022. The show is the fifth TV series in “The Walking Dead” franchise, but it’s the first direct sequel.
Cohan and Morgan will have photo ops with fans at various pop-ups, joined by fellow cast members Gaius Charles, Dascha Polanco, Kim Coates and chief content officer of “The Walking Dead” universe Scott M. Gimple.
On Monday, April 28, there will be a Rooftop Films Special Advance Screening of the Season 2 premiere, followed by a Q&A with the cast and executive producers (7:30 p.m. at Industry City, 33 35th St. in Brooklyn).
Gimple exclusively told The Post, “The city belongs to the dead — six scary words from early in the show will come true next week to celebrate ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ returning for more stories in the post-apocalyptic Big Apple.”
He added, “With so many events and opportunities for East Coast fans to connect with the new season of the Dead City, I can’t wait to see NYC get TWD’d!”
On Tuesday, April 29, “Walkers” will take over various New York City locations from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Walkers will be at Penn Station, where they’ll be handing out issues of the New York Post with a “The Walking Dead: Dead City” cover wrap.
They’ll be at PopUpBagels on 7th Avenue, where the first 200 customers can pick-up a free PopUp Bagels three-pack, and they’ll also visit the AMC Networks Office.
The walkers will also go to the Empire State Building, where they’ll meet up with the cast, and they’ll be at Radio City Music Hall for photo ops.
That night, at 7:10 p.m., it will be “The Walking Dead: Dead City” night at Citi Field.
Morgan and Cohan will throw out the first pitch at the New York Mets game when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
There will also be merch giveaways and walkers in the crowd taking photos with fans.
Before the game, Mets players will use a replica bat of Lucille during batting practice.
Kim Granito, chief marketing officer for AMC Networks, exclusively told The Post, “New York City is the ultimate backdrop for the return of these fan-favorite characters, and the perfect place to deliver unique ‘only in NY’ moments for Dead City’s massive fandom. From walker sightings and events at iconic locations to fan screenings and cast appearances, we’re taking over the Big Apple one bite at a time.”
