Falcons Could Spice Up Secondary With Free Agent Mike Hilton

Mike Hilton is coming off a season where he played all 17 games, tallied two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. He entered the league in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss and played with the Pittsburgh Steelers until he signed with their division-rival Bengals in 2021.

Hilton has been in and out as a starter since joining the Cincinnati Bengals and appeared in their Super Bowl loss against the Los Angeles Rams. In his tenure there, he had five interceptions, one being a pick-6 along with a sack, fumble recovery and forced fumble.

If the Atlanta Falcons want to sign a player like Hilton, they must get somewhat creative in terms of money, as they have about $9.8 million to give out, and Hilton could be asking for more than that. Spotrac and Sporting News have predicted Hilton to potentially sign a three-year, $37 million contract.

The Falcons have been trying to fill the holes in their defense all offseason, and with the draft in eight days where they will most likely select some defensive linemen, grabbing a guy like Hilton who is very good in coverage would be smart. He has had a 67.2% completion rate against him.

With many questions still yet to be answered by the Falcons, many rumors about Kyle Pitts and Kirk Cousins still unfolding and potential T.J. Watt and Jalen Ramsey trades that could also happen, the Falcons can look to sign Hilton to spice up a secondary that struggled to pick off quarterbacks.

Hilton is a player that will give you consistent play and can compete with Dee Alford for that starting spot.
