Now, the Rotten Tomatoes score has been revealed for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3. As of July 16, season 3 has an 88% approval rating on the review aggregator based on 16 reviews.
This represents a decrease from past seasons. Season 1 had a 99% score among critics based on 84 reviews and an 81% Popcornmeter. Season 2 also had nearly universal praise at a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score from 98 reviews and a 77% score with audiences.
While Strange New Worlds season 3 does have an 11% and 9% drop from seasons 1 and 2, the show has still been reviewed favorably. The score could also fluctuate as it only has 16 current reviews compared to 84 and 98 from past seasons.
It harkens back to the more to the episodic format that longtime viewers know, which feels more like The Original Series or Star Trek: The Next Generation.
ScreenRant's Rachel Hulshult review of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 describes the latest outing as "thought-provoking and heartbreaking and intense," while also acknowledging that the 10-episode season can feel overstuffed at times.
It will be interesting to see how viewers respond to the new season when it debuts, especially considering it has already been revealed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will end with season 5. While this was not announced until after season 3 had finished filming, it allows the series to set up a proper endgame before coming to a close.
While some of the other recent Star Trek shows have been a mixed bag, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has delivered two incredibly strong seasons of television. Given its positive track record and relatively high Rotten Tomatoes score, it should still be a fun ride for viewers when season 3 debuts.
