'Fire Country' Season 3 Finale Part 2 Recap: Vince and Sharon Face a Jaw-Dropping Cliffhanger

Multiple crises are dangling after the first half of the Fire Country Season 3 finale. There's an emerging fire at Three Rock that no one has noticed yet. Bode (Max Thieriot) heads off by himself to defend the memory care center from a fire despite being injured and having the option to call for backup. Station 42 is busy fighting the Zable Ridge fire, and Manny (Kevin Alejandro) walks into the Leone house to see his daughter Gabrielle (Stephanie Arcilla) standing over Finn (Blake Lee) with a gun as he bleeds out from the chest.

It's a lot of balls to juggle within an hour, but the second part of the finale gives us one of the most intense rollercoaster rides that Fire Country has ever sent us on. The Zable Ridge is bigger than anyone imagined and requires all hands on deck at the Buena Vista Memory Center, where Walter (Jeff Fahey) correctly predicted the fire would arrive. Bode is the first on the scene, but Vince (Billy Burke) and Sharon (Diane Farr) may pay the ultimate price for his hero complex. Meanwhile, the truth comes out about who shot Finn, and Three Rock becomes another victim of the raging fire.

Finn's Death Leads to a Game-Changing Arrest in the 'Fire Country' Season 3 Finale

Manny immediately jumps into action and instructs Gabs to start working on Finn while he calls 911. Audrey (Levin Rambin) is out of it, either as a side effect of being tased or because she was potentially the one who shot Finn, but Gabs gets her to come around, and they immediately begin to figure out how to remove the bullet to allow Finn's lungs to expand fully.

No ambulance can get to the Leone house because of the fire shutting down roads, so Manny insists that they drive Finn to a hospital. In a wild turn of events, the same road closures that prevent ambulances from getting to the Leone house also prevent Manny from driving to the hospital. While Manny tries to work out an alternative solution, Gabriela and Audrey work on Finn in the back of the car. He regains consciousness and reveals that it was Audrey who shot him, not Gabs. With a prior criminal record and her shooting Finn in the chest, the odds of Audrey going to jail are pretty high.

Manny finally gets hold of Jake (Jordan Calloway), who confirms there are no open roads that can get them to the hospital. Instead, he reroutes Manny to the Buena Vista scene so the paramedics there can treat Finn. Manny turns the car around and speeds to the memory care facility to allow the medics to work on Finn. Audrey immediately turned herself in to the police officers on the scene, and Bode gets to see his girlfriend taken away by cops as Gabs informs him that Audrey shot Finn to protect her.

'Fire Country's Season 3 Finale Says Farewell to Three Rock

The fire at Three Rock has now gone from a small pile of embers to a raging wildfire. However, with the Zable Ridge fire taking up resources, there was no cavalry to help Three Rock contain the flames. Francine (Katie Findlay) loops back to the camp to bring Eve (Jules Latimer) and the crew some extra fire extinguishers, but the flames are already growing out of control. Cole (Tye White) suggests a bucket brigade to get water from the well to help quell the flames. It gives them a little more time, but ultimately, the fire takes too much of the camp, and Eve has to make the decision to save the crew.

The Three Rock guys are devastated to lose the camp, but Eve reminds them that Three Rock is really the bond between them instead of a bunch of buildings. It's a path forward to their future, and they need to hold on to that even if they're sent to different camps. The most important thing is that Cole lived to actually make it to parole and reunite with his family.

Tragedy Strikes at Buena Vista in the 'Fire Country' Season 3 Finale

Walter may have been mid-delusion when he called Bode to help at the Buena Vista care center, but his firefighting instincts are right on. Bode arrives just as the winds shift the direction of the fire toward Edgewater, putting the care center right in its path. Vince and Sharon are struggling to get to Buena Vista when Bode calls them and informs them that he's already there. That's the last thing they want to hear when Vince has already benched Bode to take care of his injured knee. They reiterate that Bode needs to stay out of the fire and just wait for them to get there so they can assess the scene.

Well, this is Bode we were talking about, and his only other influence around is Walter. The two of them throw on fire jackets from Bode's bag and trudge into Buena Vista to find Walter's friend Otto, who is missing in the chaos. They search the entire building until Walter remembers his advice to Bode on his Cal Fire training day – people hide in closets. They find Otto hidden in a closet, and Bode starts to carry him out of the center. He and Walter are almost to the exit when Bode's injured knee gives out (because of course!). He collapses to the ground as their exit goes up in flames.

Vince and Sharon finally arrive on the scene to discover that Bode and Walter have directly disobeyed them. So they, the Battalion Chief and Department Chief, both suit up and follow Bode and Walter into the flames. At this point, every surviving member of the Leone family — minus Luke (Luke Trucco), because he is in Japan — is inside the burning building. Not a single one of them thought this situation through. Jake is the next to arrive on the scene after his truck can't make it to Three Rock to help Eve. He asks where his bosses are so that he could get a rundown of the scene, and is informed that they're both inside — and that he's been appointed as incident command. Jake wanted a promotion and a chance to grow at Station 42, but this isn't the way he wanted to do it.

Vince and Sharon are eventually able to locate Bode and Walter. Sharon helps Bode get Otto to the exit, but as they are all about to leave, they realize that Walter has wandered off. Sharon pushes Bode out of the building and tells him to get his knee wrapped as she follows Vince to find Walter again. By this point, the entire building is on the verge of collapsing, and exits are being consumed by flames. Vince finds his father trying to break a window in a full-out delusion. Walter screams that Vince can't tell a battalion chief what to do, so Vince has to play along to convince his father to leave. They are almost out when Walter decides that now is the best time to apologize for being a terrible father to Vince while he was growing up. Vince really appreciates the sentiment, but argues that it isn't the right time as the roof is moments from caving in. Luckily, Sharon radios that she's found a potential exit, so the three of them reunite and start to make their way to the outside.

I'd love to say that all three of them made it, but the truth is that we don't know. Bode attempts to run back into the building once more, but Jake holds him back. They watch in horror as the roof of Buena Vista caves in, sending a massive fireball into the air and condemning anyone who might still be inside. When the credits roll, Vince, Sharon, and Walter are still potentially inside the inferno, leaving a massive cliffhanger about who will survive to Season 4.

Deadline reported immediately after the episode aired that Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila will not be back for Season 4. Gabriela was outside and safe when the roof collapsed, so there's room for her to return in future episodes, but Burke exiting the show would indicate that Vince does not make it out of the building in the Season 4 premiere. If that's the case, then Fire Country just killed off its best character, and this show will never be the same. Yes, a Vince death would mean that Jake can stay at Station 42, but is this how anyone wanted that to happen? There are no words to describe how intense a loss this will be for the show.
