Fire Country Spinoff Cast & Who's Starring in Sheriff Country

Sheriff Country has found its leading man in a primetime veteran. Matt Lauria — who’s best known for his roles as Josh Folsom in CSI: Vegas and Luke Cafferty in Friday Night Lights — was announced as the newest cast member of Fire Country‘s upcoming spinoff, Sheriff Country.

According to CBS, Lauria will play Boone — the longtime partner of lead character Mickey Fox — who is described as a “smart, tough and capable deputy” with a different style of law enforcement due to his law enforcement background in Oakland, California.

Along with Lauria, news also broke that Christopher Gorham (who has starred on shows like Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage and Ugly Betty) and Michelle Weaver (whose credits include The Pitt and Ahsoka) were also joining the Sheriff Country cast. Gorham will play Travis, a lawyer and Mickey’s ex-husband, who she still has feelings for.

Weaver, for her part, will play Cassidy, another deputy at the Edgewater County sheriff’s Office whom Mickey inspired to join law enforcement. According to Deadline, Cassidy “places Mickey on a pedestal but must now figure out what kind of deputy she wants to be.”

As Fire Country fans know, Mickey was introduced in a backdoor pilot in Fire Country Season 3 as the estranged stepsister of Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone, who investigates criminal activity in Edgewater while struggling with her ex-con father and her and Travis’ daughter Skye’s addiction issues. The cast also includes W. Earl Brown, who plays Wes Fox, a reclusive marijuana grower who’s also Mickey’s father and Sharon’s stepfather. According to Morena Baccarin, who plays Mickey, Wes plays a part in Mickey’s estrangement from her daughter.

“I have a daughter, and I am enmeshed in this sort of, like drama, political drama that’s happening in the town, having to do with illegal marijuana growth, which is what my dad got arrested for,” she told Collider in 2024.

The update on Sheriff Country‘s cast comes after news broke that Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela Perez) and Billy Burke (Vince Leone) were leaving Fire Country after the Season 3 finale. In an interview with Us Weekly, Arcila confirmed that her departure wasn’t her choice.

“I had no idea ever. It was a complete shock,” Arcila said of her exit. “But at the same time, I know that this is the nature of the industry that I’m in, and I have accepted the flow of release and acceptance throughout my journey and knowing that when one door closes, another one opens always.”

She continued, “We have this beautiful eternal door of revolving desires in what we love in life. I believe that if we put resistance towards that, sometimes it stops us from fulfilling other things that we love.”
