Oshae Brissett is not only back in the NBA, but in his two games with the 76ers, he’s off to an impressive start. Brissett signed a 10-day contract with the Sixers after playing in the G League for the past couple months, getting another shot at the league.
In his first game with the Sixers, playing against the Pacers, he put up 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 on 3-pointers in 23 minutes. Then he followed that up with 13 points against the Mavericks, shooting 6-of-9 on field goals in 25 minutes.
The Sixers were granted a hardship exception by the league, allowing them to sign Brissett on the 10-day deal. Turns out, Brissett wasn’t all that ready to play last Friday against the Pacers. He had played in the Long Island Nets' game the day before, and after getting signed earlier that day, he was quickly on the court for the Sixers.
“Man, I mean, this morning I was doing my regular morning routine about to go get treatment, and then my agent called and told me, you have a flight in a couple of hours, so pack your bags and get ready,” Brissett said, via Sixers Wire. “Then, landed I thought I was going to the hotel to drop my bags off, but they’re like, ‘no, we’re going straight to the arena.’ I was like, all right, cool. Now we’re here.”
Even if Brissett doesn’t re-sign with the Sixers, his strong performances are at least more film on him. The 26-year-old was with the Celtics last season, winning the 2024 NBA Finals. Brissett turned down a player option for this season in hopes of getting a larger opportunity elsewhere.
But that call never came as he took the first part of the season off. He was recently playing with the Long Island Nets in the G League before making it back to the NBA. Now, he’ll look to stick around for as long as he can.
