Perhaps the defining moment in former Chicago Cubs outfielder Moises Alou's career remains his 2003 clash with Cubs fan Steve Bartman.
Over 20 years later, one Cubs podcaster alleges Alou still hasn't forgotten the incident.
Paul "Crawly" Dzien, who co-hosts Fly The W, posted a picture on X (formerly Twitter) of a Chicago Sports Spectacular attendee dressed as Bartman. Cubs fans will never forget the image of Bartman deflecting a ball that Alou attempted to catch in Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS.
Instead of Alou recording the eighth inning's second out, the then-Florida Marlins scored eight unanswered runs en route to a shocking victory. Florida won the NLCS a night later and eventually topped the New York Yankees in the World Series.
Update!! Moises refused to take the pic!!
It was believed the saga ended when the Cubs sent Bartman a championship ring in 2016. However, Dzien alleged Alou refused to take a picture with the Bartman impersonator.
Neither Alou nor anyone affiliated with the six-time All-Star had addressed the allegation by publication.
Cubs fans widely supported Alou on X, and many made it clear their issue was with the fan rather than Bartman himself.
"Good on Moises," read one comment. "Clown move."
"Good!" another added. "That wasn't a joke to him!"
Dzien said the fan in question rooted for the White Sox and attended the event with a Cubs fan friend.
"This [expletive] thinks this is funny dressing up like this," one Cubs fan wrote. "IMO he needs his [expletive] kicked."
"This is low brow crap," another user wrote. "Bartman deserves to be left alone."
