The Philadelphia Eagles are entering the 2025 campaign with some high hopes. After demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles have remained busy this offseason, and they appear poised to be a serious threat to go all the way back to the Super Bowl and repeat as champions.
While it’s been an offseason to enjoy for Philadelphia, that hasn’t necessarily been the case for one of their free agents, veteran offensive lineman Jack Driscoll. After playing a reserve role on offense for the Eagles during their Super Bowl campaign, Driscoll has been unable to find a new home in free agency this offseason, and it could lead to him calling it a career.
The Eagles selected Driscoll in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he’s been a jack of all trades on their offensive line during the first five seasons of his career. Driscoll has played at both tackle and guard during his career, appearing in 67 games for Philadelphia, 18 of which have been starts.
While the Eagles may not necessarily need him on their stacked offensive line, it’s been a surprise to see no one else want to scoop Driscoll up, especially considering how valuable offensive line depth is in the league nowadays. Could that point to him deciding to call it a career at only 28 years old?
That’s what Anthony Miller of “Inside the Iggles” recently predicted. Whether it be due to a lack of interest in free agency or a lack of desire to play the game of football, Miller believes that Driscoll could ultimately end up retiring this offseason, with the prospect becoming more realistic the longer he remains on the open market.
“It does beg the question on whether there isn’t another call from any of the remaining 31 NFL teams. Could this be the end for Driscoll?” Miller wrote. “At 28 years old, it seems hard to believe, but training camp is around the corner and it’s starting to certainly feel like it.”

Right now, there’s no need for Driscoll in Philadelphia, as their offensive line of Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson appears to be among the best in the league. If one of these guys gets hurt, things will become more precarious for the Eagles at this spot, which is why it makes sense for them to have a guy like Driscoll in town, who is versatile and has proven he can his own in the past when called upon.
Whether that’s an option remains to be seen, but it feels like if Driscoll were to re-sign with Philly, it would have already happened. Who knows, maybe he’ll find his way onto another team, but with training camps starting up all across the league, retirement may surprisingly end up being on the table for Driscoll.
