Veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks announced on Friday that he is retiring from the NFL. Prior to his retirement, Hicks was a member of the Cleveland Browns, but his career started with the Philadelphia Eagles after they drafted him in the third round of the 2015 Draft. Hicks spent the first four years of his lengthy career in Philly, having a lot of success with the team.
He started 40 of the 43 games he played with the Eagles, recording 254 tackles, five sacks, and seven interceptions that he returned for 108 yards and a touchdown. He also helped Philadelphia win Super Bowl 52, forever cementing himself as a champion.

After four years with the Eagles, Hicks moved on to the Arizona Cardinals, where he spent three years. He then played two years with the Minnesota Vikings, and spent last season with the Cleveland Browns. Hicks had a really good season with Cleveland in 2024, and the Browns we’re looking forward to his return in 2025. However, the linebacker missed the first two days of camp for personal reasons, then announced his retirement on Friday.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Hicks expressed, “Football has given me more than I could have ever imagined,” while thanking teammates, coaches, fans, family, and the game of football for everything it gave him. He concluded his announcement by saying, “I walk away with peace knowing I gave football all I had, and that the best is yet to come.”
After 10 seasons, he ends his career with 134 games played, 952 tackles, 51 for a loss, 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, 11 recoveries, 53 pass deflections, and 13 interceptions. Playing with four different teams in 10 years, Hicks will always be remembered in Philadelphia for helping the team win a Super Bowl.
