Former GM Praises Dodgers Front Office as ‘Platinum Standard’ of MLB

The Los Angeles Dodgers have received much criticism for their success this offseason. The praises, though far and few in between, have also emerged for the organization.

One such compliment came from a former general manager, Jim Bowden, who understands the complexities of working in a front office. Bowden called the Dodgers the “platinum standard.”

“The organization is the best in the sport from top to bottom, not just because of unlimited funds,” he wrote on X.

While many have called the Dodgers’ financial flexibility unfair, the team’s success goes well beyond money. The organization has earned a coveted reputation, a place where players want to compete as it gives them the best chance to win.

The Dodgers are a beloved team in MLB, not because they’re good at making money, but because the organization takes care of its players and helps them flourish. Teoscar Hernández said this was the case when he explained why he chose to re-sign with the Dodgers.

“The Dodgers, they’re different,” Hernández said. “They think about everybody. Not only the players, not only the things I can do on the field. For me, they just give me the confidence. I never got that really in the other places that I worked.

“They trust in everything that I can give them, and to this team and this organization. And that was one of the biggest things for me, that pushed me to the best job that I can do.”

Other players have also been outspoken about why the Dodgers organization runs at such a high level. Hyeseong Kim said the Dodgers were the first team to contact him when he was posted, which says a lot for the reigning World Series champions.

“I was so grateful for that,” Kim said.

As for why he chose to sign with the Dodgers, who offered him less money than other organizations.

“Well, they’re the Dodgers,” he said.

The Dodgers’ prestigious reputation is also what sold Roki Sasaki to choose L.A., rather than other organizations that had offered the Japanese phenom more money. The Dodgers couldn’t outbid any team for Sasaki, but the competition for the 23-year-old pitcher was about presentation and pitching development. The Dodgers are elite at it all.
