Former Kentucky kicker Alex Raynor gets NFL opportunity with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former Kentucky Wildcats kicker Alex Raynor is getting his shot at the NFL, earning an invitation to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ rookie minicamp this weekend.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 30 Louisville at Kentucky

Raynor, who transferred to Kentucky from Georgia Southern, was one of the most consistent kickers in the country during his two-year stint in Lexington. He connected on 25 of 27 field goal attempts, setting both school and SEC records with a 92.6% accuracy rate. Raynor was perfect from 40-49 yards and made 18 straight field goals to break another school mark.

His most impressive moment came against top-ranked Georgia last fall when he nailed four field goals—including a program-best 55-yarder—and earned SEC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

The Bucs are bringing in Raynor as an undrafted free agent for a tryout opportunity. If he performs well, he could earn a roster spot or catch the eye of another team in need of a steady leg. Either way, Raynor’s college career has put him in position to make the leap to the pros.
