Darren Sproles to interview with Lions

According to Matt Zenitz, the former Saints running back will interview with the Detroit Lions for a position on their coaching staff.

Sproles was not in New Orleans during Dan Campbell's tenure, but it would not be surprising if the two know each other by now. Campbell is held in extremely high regards by the Saints organization.

The Lions still have running backs coach and assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery on staff, so it may be something that relates to an assistant role. The Lions did not have an assistant running backs coach role this past season, but they have in the past. -- Mike Payton

Saints fans will remember Sproles quite well. He was an electric special teams returner and RB for the team during his playing days. Drew Brees was a massive fan of his game, and that duo became close over the years.

As for New Orleans, they continue to be without a head coach. That wait may be over in the coming few days, though.

Kellen Moore is the clear frontrunner and expected to land the job once his Philadelphia Eagles finish playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday evening. It is possible that he could be the Saints' new head coach by Monday morning. Only time will tell.
