The NFL is constantly moving. For the New Orleans Saints, they continue their search for a Dennis Allen replacement at head coach. Allen was fired in early November after a seven-game losing skid for New Orleans.
Now, Allen is looking for a new opportunity elsewhere, and it seems like there will be plenty of interest around the league due to his defensive prowess.
Dennis Allen drawing interest
The former Saints head coach is strong candidate to land elsewhere in the NFL as a defensive coordinator.
According to Jeremy Fowler, the Indianapolis Colts will interview Allen for their DC opening. They recently fired Gus Bradley and are looking for a replacement. He is the fourth name to be mentioned during their DC search.
As Fowler notes, Allen is expected to be a popular DC candidate around the NFL. I would be surprised if Indy is the only team who brings Allen in to discuss the opening on staff.
Allen has proven himself as a defensive play-caller in the NFL.
The Resume
He helped engineer the Saints to consistent defensive outputs when Sean Payton was their head coach, and the Saints unit found success at times when Allen was the head coach, too.

That being said, another HC opportunity for Allen seems unlikely. His tenure with the Saints was a rocky one, following a tumultuous HC era with the Raiders.
He boasts one of the worst records as a head coach in NFL history, and it's clear that he's better served as a defensive coordinator at this point. Allen has a record of just 26-53 as a head coach.
Expect other teams to get involved in the near future when it comes to Allen as a DC moving forward.
