Former New Orleans Saints Head Coach, Sean Payton, will return to the Superdome for the second time since taking over as the Denver Broncos head coach last year.
Earlier this morning, Nick Underhill with NOF revealed that Sean Payton and the Broncos will make their way to the New Orleans for week 3 of the NFL preseason.
This will be the second time in the last year that Sean Payton will return to his former home. The first time came in week 7 of last year when the Saints hosted the Broncos in the Superdome on Thursday night. The Broncos absolutely dominated the Saints, winning a 33-10 ball game that was going to be 33-3 if it weren't for a late Saints touchdown.
I know it's only a preseason, but it will probably be the biggest preseason game for the Saints in the past 5+ years. Fans will be eager to welcome Payton back (whether that be with cheers or boos, we'll have to see), and we'll likely get a good look at Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler before the regular season begins.
This is an exciting season for Saints fans, even if expectations aren't that high. It's year one under Kellen Moore, who has brought in a really talented staff and drafted a quarterback he really believes in. And it will all start in week 1 vs the Arizona Cardinals, which Nick Underhill also revealed earlier this morning.
So far, three Saints games have been leaked. The preseason matchup vs Denver, week 1 at home vs Arizona and week 5 at home vs the New York Giants. The full schedule gets revealed tonight at 7pm CT, but we'll likely get at least a few more leaks before that time comes.
