The Steelers basically made a swap of safeties with the Browns
Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Damontae Kazee is signing with the Cleveland Browns, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The Steelers signed former Browns safety Juan Thornhill earlier this offseason, so both sides basically swapped safeties.
Kazee was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played in all 16 games from 2017-19, and he led the NFL in interceptions in 2018 with seven. He joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, spending a year with Dallas before joining the Steelers in 2022. He had five interceptions in three seasons with Pittsburgh and will now likely be the third safety in the rotation behind Grant Delpit and Ronnie Hickman.
The Browns have now added three former Steelers to their roster this offseason. They traded for quarterback Kenny Pickett back in March and also signed wide receiver Diontae Johnson as a potential impact player in their offense. We’ll know in a matter of days when the Browns and their horde of former Steelers will play Pittsburgh when the NFL schedule is announced.
