Gardner Minshew excited for opportunity as Chiefs’ backup QB

   

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - For the fourth year in a row, the Chiefs have a new backup quarterback. His name is Gardner Minshew, and he has started nearly 50 games in the NFL. Minshew says he’s excited for his opportunity in Kansas City.

“I love the way they teach [the offense] here,” Minshew told reporters at training camp. “They communicate very well on potential looks you can get, how the play might adjust on the fly, and really give the guys the opportunity to go play ball and be successful.”

Minshew – who started nine games for the Raiders last year – is grateful to be part of a franchise that has stood the test of time.

“They’ve been running these plays for so long,” said Minshew. “They’ve developed such an understanding of what works against certain looks, when they need to get out of things, so that has helped my learning.”
