George Kittle joined the effort to recruit Myles Garrett over from the Browns to the 49ers this offseason.
Thirty-one other teams would love to have Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett on their roster.
However, not all of those 31 teams would be able to strike a deal for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.
There's a strong case for the San Francisco 49ers to pursue Garrett, namely after he made his intentions clear about wanting to move on from Cleveland not long ago. After all, the Niners need to infuse more talent in their defensive line while adding to the pass-rush prowess alongside another DPOY, defensive end Nick Bosa.
That said, the Browns have made it clear they don't want to trade Garrett, and San Francisco might not be able to extend Garrett after a would-be trade anyway, lessening the likelihood of a deal taking place.
Still, that won't stop numerous 49ers players from trying to convince both parties to strike a trade.
Including All-Pro tight end George Kittle.
George Kittle, Deommodore Lenoir launch recruiting pitch to Myles Garrett
Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir already posted a recruiting effort on Twitter/X aiming to convince Garrett to head over to the Bay Area as his preferred destination:
What Type of Animal you wanna be ? We got Hyenas, Bears, Lions and Gorillas
Kittle, speaking to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show at Radio Row in advance of Super Bowl 59, added his own unique pitch in a most Kittle-like manor:
George Kittle's pitch for Myles Garrett to come to the #49ers?@gkittle46: "Hey Myles, we could be really good friends, I promise." 😂🤝
"Hey Myles, we could be really good friends, I promise," Kittle said when asked about potentially trading for the perennial All-Pro pass-rusher.
Of course, teams can't officially tamper with players under contract on opposing teams. But the rules clearly don't apply to players, who can voice their interests in a variety of ways, including public displays at a high-profile venue like Radio Row.
Even Adams prompted Kittle, asking whether or not the elite tight end would welcome someone like Garrett.
"Yeah, I think Myles Garrett is a pretty good football player," Kittle said jokingly. "From what I've remembered, watching his tape, solid. Decent. Yes."
Kittle added he would always welcome good football players who help make "his job easier."
Well said, George. Well said. Now, if only the Niners and Browns' front offices listen, and Garrett highlights San Francisco as his preferred destination.
