San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle has been keeping busy in the offseason. Based on his social media activity, however, the two-time All-Pro tight end has been enjoying his downtime while on vacation as football takes a backseat.
As it turns out, however, Kittle also has some plans lined up involving a different sport. The 31-year-old has been working on his swing for quite some time now, and it appears that he's taking the sport of golf seriously.
So much so, that it was revealed on Wednesday that, for the first time ever, Kittle will be taking part in the upcoming 2025 American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament. The ACC made the big announcement via Instagram.
" FIRST TIME PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT: warm welcome to 49ers George Kittle!" the post read.
The announcement also indicated that Kittle will be joining his Niners teammate Kyle Juszczyk as part of the field. Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, baseball icon Alex Rodriguez, hockey superstar Matthew Tkachuck, ex-soccer player Taylor Twellman and celebrity chef Bobby Flay were all also mentioned as second-year returnees for the tournament.
Kittle's wife, Claire Kittle, is clearly excited about the news. The 30-year-old Niners WAG (wives and girlfriends) took to Instagram to share her reaction to the big announcement involving her husband.
"Golf wife chic loading " she wrote.
Claire Kittle, who has been married to the Niners TE since 2019, has been known for her eye-catching gameday outfits during the season. Based on her post, it appears that she's also looking forward to getting all dressed up as a "golf wife" as she supports her better half in this new venture.
The ACC Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place between July 9 and 13. It will be held at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
It is widely considered one of the most popular celebrity golf tournaments in the sport, and it's only fitting that one of the biggest names in the NFL -- and his wife -- will be making his debut this year.
