The Dallas Cowboys have high hopes for wide receiver George Pickens, and they are not shying away from them.
Cowboys COO Stephen Jones had a lofty comparison for Pickens during a Monday appearance on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. Jones suggested that Pickens reminded some within the building of former Dallas star Dez Bryant.
“He reminds a lot in our building of Dez Bryant, in terms of his competitiveness and what he brings to the field, his edge,” Jones said of Pickens.

That is a pretty lofty comparison, as Bryant had several standout seasons for the Cowboys. From 2012 to 2014, he had three consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns, including a league-leading 16 touchdown catches in 2014. Like Pickens, he was also known for his mercurial personality, which the Cowboys had to manage at times.
No one doubts Pickens’ talent. However, he has already shown why some are wary of him since the Cowboys made the trade to get him. The team is betting they can keep him in check and make the most of his ability, but it is certainly a gamble.
