George Pickens Shares His Honest First Impression of Jerry Jones

Earlier this month, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys made a significant offseason splash — trading for 24-year-old wide receiver star George Pickens.

Jones and the Cowboys traded a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

The addition of Pickens gives Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense another dangerous offensive weapon alongside superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Pickens spoke to reporters during the Cowboys' OTAs on Tuesday. During his media availability, the former Pittsburgh pass catcher shared his honest first impression of Jones.

“Super excited. It was like when you get a present on Christmas. He was just super happy," Pickens said of his first interaction with Jones, via team insider Jon Machota.

Pickens, a former Georgia Bulldog, entered the NFL as the Steelers' No. 52 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 draft. Through his first three seasons in Pittsburgh, he reeled in 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Pickens is clearly looking forward to his fresh start in Dallas.

“I feel great. I like the mojo here. I like the swag. I feel like they have a great thing going for sure,” Pickens said during his introductory press conference earlier this month. “I’m grateful to be here. I’m grateful to play with Dak.”

"This game is just as much a business as it is football. It's kinda like out of my control," he continued. "I'm glad to be here in Dallas and able to continue the winning culture that they have."

Dallas will kickoff its 2025 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the reigning Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sep. 4.
