Green Bay Packers kicker Anders Carlson has been under the microscope all offseason long. They have brought in tons of competition for him. As of late, the Packers released Jack Podlesny but James Turner was also recently claimed off of waivers from the Detroit Lions.
Carlson is also going to be in a kicking competition with veteran Greg Joseph throughout training camp. Anders Carlson made 81.8% of his field goals during the regular season but only made 66.7% of his field goals during the postseason.
He missed only five extra point attempts during the regular season, but Carlson missed an alarming five extra points during two playoff games last season. This is one of the reasons why the Green Bay Packers have a very stiff kicking competition entering the 2024 season.
Greg Joseph was with the Minnesota Vikings last season. He made 80% of his field goals but only missed two extra-points all season long. Joseph is 29 years old.
Dairylandexpress.com Writer Brian Sampson Believes That Green Bay Packers Kicker Anders Carlson Is 1 of 12 Players On the Roster Who Is On the Bubble To Make the Team
It is not surprising to see Anders Carlson being one of 12 players on the roster who is on the bubble to make the team out of training camp. Carlson was just a rookie a season ago. If he does not make the Packers’ 53-man roster this season, it would make some fans happy.
Some fans were upset when they cut Jack Podlesny. Sampson said about Carlson being on the bubble entering NFL training camp this season:
“Carlson finds himself in a three-way battle for the Packers’ kicking job, competing against Greg Joseph and Jack Podlesny. Throughout the offseason workout program, all three kickers had their moments, but no clear-cut leader has emerged. The race appears to be primarily between Carlson and Joseph, with Podlesny potentially being replaced by a different kicker before training camp. Despite the competition, it’s Carlson’s job to lose.
