Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was one of many players who had a subpar year in 2024. It all centered around one issue: drops. Reed, along with a few other players, were among the league leaders in dropped passes last year. These mistakes killed drives and caused the offense to struggle, especially against the best teams in the league. The front office made it clear that things needed to improve. They drafted Matthew Golden and Savion Williams with two of their first three picks and brought in Mecole Hardman in free agency. Reed seems determined to improve and posted a video to social media showing fans how he has been spending his offseason.
Green Bay Packers Jayden Reed Offseason
Jayden Reed posted a video on Instagram showing him working out with the JUGS machine. He seems determined not to have as many drops as last year. Reed dropped ten passes last year and had a 15.4% drop rate, one of the highest in the league. Despite this, he still racked up 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. The former Michigan State Spartan had plenty of highlight reel plays where he showcased his great hands.
The Green Bay Packers hope last year was an outlier. Reed didn’t have an issue with drops in his rookie season, so last year may have been an anomaly. It is great to see Reed and many other Packers receivers work hard on this in the offseason. Even if the offense could cut its drops in half, it would drastically improve the offense.
Big Expectations
The Green Bay Packers have high expectations for the offense. Matthew Golden has made it clear what his goals are, and his presence will hopefully boost the numbers of other players. Running back Josh Jacobs is hungry for another huge year, and Jordan Love is eager to prove he is worthy of the massive extension. If his receivers could catch the ball consistently, that would help his numbers.
Many analysts have projected a huge year for the offense. Last year, there were so many things that went wrong. Despite this, they went 11-6, making the playoffs for the second straight season under Love. If they can eliminate the unforced errors, the Green Bay Packers could be a dangerous team.
Final Thoughts
It’s great to see players understanding what they need to work on. Fans will get very frustrated if the problem of drops continues this season. Can Jayden Reed eclipse 1,000 yards this year for the Packers?
