Green Bay Packers Josh Jacobs Eyeing Top 50 Spot In NFL All-Time Rushing Yards In 2025

The Green Bay Packers made a big swing in free agency last year, signing former Raiders running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year deal. He was everything the team hoped he would be. Jacobs immediately became a focal point of the offense and helped the Packers reach the playoffs before losing to the eventual champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. It is yet another season that the former Alabama running back has been one of the best backs in the league. With another great season, he could move into the top 50 on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list.

Green Bay Packers Josh Jacobs Career

In five seasons with the Raiders, Josh Jacobs rushed for 5,545 yards, including 1,653 yards in 2022, when he led the league in rushing. Last season with the Green Bay Packers, he rushed for another 1,329 yards, giving him a career total of 6,874 rushing yards. He currently sits 72nd on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list. While there are some active players ahead of him, he has a chance to crack the top 50 in 2025.

Another former Alabama running back, Mark Ingram, sits at no. 50 on the list with 8,111 rushing yards in his career. This means Josh Jacobs needs 1,237 yards to surpass Ingram in the upcoming season. He did it last year and should continue to get plenty of volume this year as well. The Packers invested in the offensive line this offseason, hoping to not only protect Jordan Love but also help create holes for Jacobs as well.

Will He Reach The Top 50?

There is no question that Jacobs has the talent to reach this number. In fact, he has the potential to continue to climb the list in his career. However, this year could have some challenges. First, the Green Bay Packers schemed a run-heavy game plan for the three games in which Love was injured and Malik Willis started. If Love is healthy for all 17 games, there might be a bigger focus on the passing game in 2025.

Furthermore, there might be some more competition in the backfield. Last year’s third-round pick, MarShawn Lloyd, missed basically all of last year with a string of bizarre injuries. The coaching staff has been very vocal about their love of the former USC running back. He could take away some of the snaps from Jacobs this year. Despite all of this, Jacobs is still set up for a solid year.

Final Thoughts

It is hard to climb the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list. It isn’t just about skill; it is about staying healthy and having longevity. Jacobs will undoubtedly be a focal point of the Green Bay Packers’ offense this season. Will he catch Ingram and move into the top 50?
